When Debby Huntington sets out to make her paella, she knows it’s going to be an all day affair. The chicken, pork, mussels, and clams all have to be cooked separately before she can mix them together in a big terra cotta pot with saffron and rice. Pulling it all together takes a good deal of preparation. It’s a rare occasion when this successful businesswoman has a free day to spend in the kitchen, but Debby loves to cook and entertain friends and family out on her back patio.
Creating an Atmosphere
The food is just one of the details Debby pulls together when planning a get-together – the right music, a good bottle of wine, white lights strung through the trees, or candlelight flickering in the night. Whether it’s a high school graduation bash for her friend’s daughter, or a small family get together, Debby thrives on the art of weaving together the right elements to create an atmosphere that helps her guests relax and have a good time.
Driving Miss Daysie
But most days, when Debby isn’t busy helping her clients, she and her husband, Chris, just entertain their cocker spaniel, Daysie. They like to go for walks in the neighborhood, or bike rides along the American River Trail, pulling Daysie behind them in her cart. If they have more time, they’ll make a trip to the coast and toss the Frisbee on the beach or simply relax and watch Daysie chase the birds. Debby was born in Eastport, Maine and despite living most of her life in California, that old-fashioned New England charm is still a part of her style—she also enjoys crocheting and needlepoint and she loves to garden.

Cultivating Experience
Debby got her start in real estate typing title policies on a electric typewriter. She worked her way up to Escrow Officer, all while earning her college degree at night school. She then went on to become a transaction coordinator and eventually started her own business handling transactions for other agents until she decided that, with her in-depth understanding of real estate transactions, she could provide invaluable service to families looking to sell their home.
